A Ukrainian intelligence officer, previously admitting to killing a woman linked to an attempted assassination in Monaco, has now retracted his confession, shifting the blame to an alleged accomplice. Vladyslav Reut, an officer with Ukraine's military intelligence agency GUR, made this unexpected claim during a custody hearing in Kyiv. He accused his co-defendant, Vitalii Zhykovych, of committing the murder.

He explained that he initially confessed under duress, fearing for his family's safety if he contradicted Zhykovych. Zhykovych, however, denies these allegations, with his lawyer portraying him as a patriot who defended Ukraine during key conflicts.
