Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the site of the tragedy and recounted a musician's account of the chaotic scene as the fire broke out. Many patrons reportedly sought shelter in the back of the building and the bathrooms, where they were overcome by smoke.
The governor of Bangkok, Chatchart Sittipunt, indicated that the bar's flammable interior decorations might have exacerbated the spread of the fire. He also mentioned reports of possible obstructions near the emergency exits, which will be further examined by forensic teams.
Community Impact and Assistance
Witnesses, including a motorcyclist named Surin Jaiharn, recounted their efforts to help those trapped inside. Surin used clothing to put out flames on several patrons, expressing sadness over the loss of life he witnessed.
In response to the tragedy, the local district office announced the temporary closure of the building housing the bar. Financial assistance has been promised to the families of the deceased and those injured.
